who we are

We are a family gathered around King Jesus practicing his way for the sake of our city. Our dream is that as we live this out—as disciples are made and churches form—that our neighborhoods and our city will be transformed. In other words, we’re still praying that same old Jesus prayer, Father may your kingdom come and your will be done in Grand Rapids as it is in heaven.

what it means to be a disciple

Probably the closest modern parallel we have to the concept of discipleship is apprenticeship. Just as an apprentice seeks to become like the one he of she studies under, our goals as apprentices of Jesus is to become more and more like him. We want to learn to live the kind of life he would live if he were me. This means a radical rearrangement our lives around three goals: Be with Jesus. Learn from Jesus. Become like Jesus. This journey of apprenticeship happens as we become more aware of the continually presence of Jesus and immerse ourselves in the story of Jesus. It happens in the context of the family of Jesus. And it happens as we adopt the lifestyle of Jesus by engaging the practices (spiritual disciplines).
